SPAM: Unsolicited, unwanted, mass broadcast of advertisements to newsgroups and email addresses, often used by con-artists, steals bandwidth and clogs email boxes.
As a matter of policy here at On-Net, we do not closely track the activities of our customers. However, when we receive complaints from others on the Internet as a result of our customers' activities, we are forced to pay attention.
On-Net Services does not allow Email Spamming. Please be advised that this type of activity is in opposition to On-Net's code of ethics. Any On-Net customer who engages in this practice may have their account immediately terminated.
We also have eliminated Relaying through our mail servers to other mail servers (being connect to another Service Provider and sending mail through ours) in order to cut down on spamming.
Here are some easy steps to help us stop spam from being delivered to you. You can forward us the junk email with full headers to helpdesk@on-net.net so that we can contact the ISPs sending the junk mail, as well as add filters to our systems to stop mail from these spammers from being delivered to us altogther.
Here's what to do for the most popular email clients to report Spammers:
Netscape Messenger 4.0 for PC and Mac:
1. Double-click the message in your Inbox to open it in a new window.
2. Go to the Message menu and select Forward Quoted. Messenger will open a new message containing the text of the spam.
3. Click on the original spam message to bring it to the front. Go to the Viewmenu, select Headers and select All from the submenu. The messages's full headers will appear.
4. Use your mouse to highlight the header. Select Copy from the Edit menu.
5. Click on the new message to bring it to the front once again.
6. Place your mouse cursor just about the text in the body of the message. Go to the Edit menu and choose Paste as Quotation.
7. Send it to helpdesk@on-net.net.
Netscape Messenger 4.5 for PC and Mac:
1. Double-click the message in your Inbox to open it in a new window.
2. Go to the View menu, select Headers, and choose All from the submenu. The message's full headers will appear.
3. Go to the Message menu, select Forward As, then choose Inline from the submenu. Messenger will oen a new message containg the text of the spam and its headers.
4. Send it to helpdesk@on-net.net.
Microsoft Outlook Express for PC:
1. In your Inbox, right-click on the message and select Properties from the pop-up menu.
2. Click Details in the window that appears.
3. Right-click anywhere inside the Internet Headers for this message field and choose Select All from the pop-up menu.
4. With the text highlighted, right-click your mouse in the field again and select copy.
5. Click OK to close the window.
6. Go to the Compose menu and select forward to create a new message containing the spam email.
7. Place your mouse cursor about the body text of the new message. Go to the Edit menu and select Paste to paste the header information you copied.
8. Send it to helpdesk@on-net.net.
Microsoft Outlook Express for Mac:
1. Double-click the message in your Inbox to open it in a new window.
2. Go to the View Menu, and choose Internet Headers.
3. The headers will appear in a small window. Click anywhere inside this window, go to the Edit menu, and choose Select All. 4. Go back to the Edit menu and select Copy.
5. Go to the Message menu and shoose Forward to open a new message containing the spam email.
6. Click just about the messages's body text to place your cursor there. Then, shoose Paste form the Edit menu to paste the headers into a new message.
7. Send it to helpdesk@on-net.net.
